The name Crawfords Productions is synonymous with the golden age of Australian television - top quality drama with high production values. The Flying Doctors was one of the company's most successful exports, finding a loyal audience in the UK and becoming a smash hit in countries such as The Netherlands. Starting with The Flying Doctors: Series 1, we are reintroduced to characters first seen in the earlier mini-series, including Dr Tom Callaghan, played by the show's star Andrew McFarlane. Already well loved for his role on The Sullivans, Andrew McFarlane portrays Tom with the easy charm and likeability he brings to all his roles. Among McFarlane's co-stars are popular actresses Lenore Smith and Liz Burch. Other familiar faces include Mark Little playing a similar character to his Neighbours alter ego Joe Mangel, Willie Fennell (Sons & Daughters) and Maurie Fields and Val Jellay. Further down the line we are introduced to fan favourite Robert Grubb and a host of well known guest stars. A must-see for fans of Australian telly at its best and a reminder of a slower paced and more innocent era of television programming.
