“I love the idea of the two shows. On one hand you have Echo Beach, which stands alone as a glossy family drama, and then you have Moving Wallpaper, which shows the hilarious inner workings of a production office. It allows people to see the funny side of television, as a lot of the industry takes itself so seriously. If we went to a second series I would love Abi to get some really gritty storylines. And another handsome guy might spice things up a bit between her and Jimmy. My one fear if we get re-commissioned is that the producers bring in an incredibly good looking girl who takes all the boys away. I would also like Echo Beach to get a little darker - for some family secrets to come out of the closet.
“As a first role, this is incredible. I don’t think I could possibly have done so many challenging things – like a sex scene, acting in freezing cold sea and crying my eyes out. I could not have given myself a more difficult challenge to do on a first job.
“We got really close as a cast. I speak to Laura and Susie now that we’ve come back from Cornwall. When we first got to Cornwall we all went to an Indian restaurant, the six of us ‘young people’, and we had known each other for about four days. Already at that point I felt I could be there with five of my friends. We just got on so well, which is important considering the kinds of scenes I had to do with Ed and Jonathan. It made it easier that I did have a relationship with them. We were filming for three months and I felt like I was walking on air every day. Every day I was going into work with incredible, inspiring people and everyone had so much fun.”
