“There was no surfing for me and no beach, which I hope is remedied if we go to a second series. However, I had my first big action scene where Ian and I are caught in a huge fire. We did the stunts ourselves. At the start I was really looking forward to being in the heart of the scene. It was only when I realised I had to run back into the flaming building for another shot my attitude changed. My brain knows it's a controlled fire and I will be fine but once you feel the heat on your skin your brain also tells you... "Have you gone mad, you've just walked into a burning building!” If you see the shot where I’m supposed to be semi-conscious and being rescued I’m practically running with the other actor in my arms as he wasn't running fast enough for me. The job is never boring I’ll give it that!
“Tony Jordan is legendary. Anyone would be seduced. Entertainment is always going to have to reinvent itself. With the boom of reality TV, I think people want to know more than ever what happens behind the scenes and be involved in every aspect of an entertainer’s life. They want the gossip behind the gloss. With this, the viewers get a faultless and fresh comedy lead with the pumping powerhouse comedian that is Ben Miller. Then they get a drama with all the sun, sea, sex and scandal Cornwall never knew it had. Audiences are being spoilt, quite frankly.
“I always feel excited and grateful when starting a new project. There are many gifted artists out there but projects can be few and far between. When you are given the opportunity to work with a talent such as Tony Jordan, on a brand new double show concept, with a host of amazing and generous actors, you yell "hurray" at your agent down the phone. Then you pinch yourself, go for a glass of wine to celebrate and call anyone you can talk the hind legs off about your fab new job.”
