How does Chas think things have been between her and Carl recently?
She thinks everything’s absolutely fine! They've been getting on great since Chas came back from Lanzarote and Carl seemed really pleased to see her. She's not at all suspicious that he might be seeing someone else - and certainly not Eve.
How does she discover Carl's been cheating on her?
Charity happens to find a bra that’s shoved under the sofa at Mill Cottage and teases Chas about being a hussy, but Chas isn't laughing as the bra isn’t hers. Turns out it's not Scarlett's either and Chas knows the only explanation can be that Carl's cheating on her. Charity recognises the bra as coming from the lingerie sale which Gennie threw the week before and Gennie tells her Eve was the only person who bought that bra.
How does she feel when she realises Eve's the other woman?
She’s incredibly hurt and angry it’s bad enough to discover that Carl’s been cheating on her but Eve's a mate. Chas is one of the few people who’ve been willing to defend Eve when most people have said she’s trouble. It's like a double dose of betrayal.
What does she do next?
Her knee-jerk reaction is to confront Carl and Eve. But Charity stops her, telling her she must look at the bigger picture. Chas should go all out to get revenge - Chas eventually agrees. She’s very hurt but can see the sense in what Charity’s saying and she wants to make him pay!
How is she planning to seek revenge?
Initially, it’s just little things, she can’t resist - at the village bonfire, she sticks a toffee apple in Eve’s hat when Eve’s not looking and all the toffee gets stuck to her hair! Next on her list is Carl. She ups her game, sneaks into his office and deletes all the files on his computer. Not surprisingly, Carl’s extremely annoyed. But Charity’s constantly on at her to up her game and to start playing really dirty.
