Monday 23rd January

Determined Paul puts together his case to fight for Kate’s career, oblivious to the fact that she refuses to use the event that led to her illicit kiss (Brennan’s death) as an excuse. Despite this, Paul remains confident Kate will get off until Priya reveals she’s recommending Kate not be allowed to teach again. After accusing Priya of bias, Paul turns to Noah and learns of Brennan’s death – the mitigating circumstances Kate needs to clear her name. Paul urges Kate to use her emotional state to justify her mistake, but she refuses, not wanting to burden Sophie with more hurt or use her ex-boyfriend’s death for her own gain. But will Paul ignore Kate’s warning to save her career?

Upon realising that Karl knew about Malcolm and Jade’s affair, Susan accuses him of condoning Malcolm’s actions. Trying to right her son’s wrongs, she urges Malcolm to come clean and confess to his wife. Malcolm refuses, but after seeing the hurt he's caused his parents, he changes his mind and books a flight home. When Malcolm makes Susan understand Karl's true opposition to the affair, Susan apologises for misjudging him... and Karl’s once again given hope for the future.

Seeing Tash struggling with the stress of looking after Michael, Emilia teaches her grounding, a Wiccan relaxation ritual. Finding it ridiculous, Tash struggles to take it seriously, but finds it’s just the distraction she needs.

Tuesday 24th January

With time running out, Paul ignores Kate’s warning and reveals Brennan’s death to Priya. Although sympathetic, Priya stands firm, forcing Paul to turn to Noah once more. Noah’s appeal convinces Priya not to refer Kate’s case to the Victorian Institute of Teaching, but Kate’s furious Paul used Brennan’s death as an excuse, fearing Sophie will find out. Kate’s fears are released when Sophie learns the truth and confronts her sister about yet another secret kept form her. Kate tries to explain everything she does is about protecting Sophie, but Sophie makes it clear she doesn’t need her protection or anything from her anymore. Sophie’s rejection forces Kate to reconsider her life and, tired of always being the good girl, but still getting nowhere, Kate quits teaching and her old life.

Worried that Summer will have second thoughts about re-sitting her Literature exam, Andrew checks in constantly from schoolies. Frustrated, Summer urges him to go and have some fun, but Andrew fears he may have had too much when he wakes up form a big night out with a tattoo of Summer’s name. Panicked Andrew tries to convince himself it will be okay until he learns the tattoo doesn’t actually say ‘Summer’, but ‘Pickles

Wednesday 25th January

Under pressure to convince Lucas to sell, Toadie tries suggesting to Emilia the benefits of the sale. But his plan backfires when not only does Lucas have a go at him for using his girlfriend, but the garage suffers a break-in. When Lucas then gets a surprise visit from WorkSafe which doesn’t go well, he suspects foul play, and all roads lead back to Toadie. With Toadie under pressure to deliver the sale of the garage, Lucas questions the kind of people he’s working for…

Kyle returns only to learn about Kate and Noah. He and Jade are stunned when Kate announces she’s also quitting teaching. Kyle discovers the reason behind Kate’s behaviour when he finds Noah’s letter. While Kyle and Jade come to terms with the loss of their friend, Kate sticks to her resolve to have a new life.

Karl challenges Rhys when he calls in sick, angry at being overlooked by his bosses. But it’s a golf game with Kate that helps him see the error of his ways.

Thursday 26th January

Lucas enjoys having Chris back at the garage. When they realise homophobic customer Warren Burrell is due in that day, Lucas puts up a ‘gay friendly workplace’ sticker to show his support of Chris. Chris worries about an impending confrontation, but when Warren’s son Blake turns up instead, it seems he’s been worried for nothing. That’s until Warren arrives to pick up the car, notices the sticker and has a go. Lucas stands up for Chris but with someone watching them from the shadows, will he live to regret this?

Andrew does his best to hide his tattoo from Summer but when she grows suspicious and finds photos of him with a girl on schoolies, she suspects he’s cheated on her. Forced to come clean, Andrew reveals the tattoo but claims it says ‘Summer’. Summer’s touched but, when she learns that’s not what it really says, she suspects the worst until Andrew admits the truth. Summer can’t help but find it hilarious but Andrew’s distraught, stuck with a tattoo he never wanted.

Suspicious the developers aren’t above board, Toadie alerts Peter, who insists he’ll look into it. Discovering he was right, Peter gets rid of the rogue element and offers Toadie a permanent contract for his help.

Friday 27th January

Getting together for a share-house Christmas lunch, Rhys, Jade, Dane and Kyle reconnect as housemates. But when Kyle gives Jade an unwittingly sentimental present, her feelings for him are once again piqued. Although Jade does her best to deny them, she struggles and when she’s inadvertently pushed to take a chance by Sonya, decides to tell Kyle how she really feels. However, before she gets a chance to, Kyle learns of Jade’s affair with Malcolm.

Chris is surprised when Blake tries to apologise for his father’s behaviour. Sympathetic, Chris accepts and they end up sharing a beer at Charlie’s. Tash suspects Blake’s gay but Chris doesn’t believe it, his assumption right. However when Warren sees Chris with his son, he warns him to stay away – or else. Seeking Chris out, Blake apologises again for his father but Chris thinks it’s best for everyone’s sake that they’re not mates. But with someone watching the garage, is it already too late for Chris?

Toadie’s disappointed when Sonya returns with her perfect Christmas tree: a sapling that will grow over the years. Hatching a plan with Callum, Toadie feigns sadness that he won’t be able to decorate the tree this year, forcing reluctant Sonya to eventually give in and buy a slightly bigger one.
